Nanjing University: put subject choice and local life in the same plan

The short answer

Use Nanjing University’s official admissions sources to check your programme. Plan the campus, language and housing arrangements rather than treating Nanjing as one uniform student experience.

Start with a subject question

Which part of the discipline do you want to study, and which published modules or research groups support that goal? Write a short answer with evidence from the programme information. This is more useful than saying you want to attend a prestigious Chinese university without identifying a course.

Resolve the route and language

Distinguish a bachelor’s, taught or research postgraduate degree, visiting study and a non-degree language course. Verify the specific language evidence and whether any department has additional requirements. If a waiver is possible, ask how it must be documented. Do not assume a previous degree title answers the question.

Confirm campus and accommodation

Ask where the programme is based, whether housing is offered for your category and what you must pay at registration. Add commuting, insurance and first-month expenses to the budget. Noka is based in Nanjing, but that does not mean it operates university accommodation or controls admissions.

Put this guide into practice

Create a short record for your intended programme. Add the relevant notice or document beside each item; leave unpublished details marked “to confirm”.

  • Exact programme and intended intake
  • Teaching campus and realistic daily journey
  • Required prior subjects and evidence in your transcript

Choosing Chinese Universities for Scholarship Applications: Beyond Prestige

Make room for an independent choice

You can apply independently. Keep your university account and final documents under your control. Compare Nanjing University with two alternatives using the same programme fields and decide whether the location supports your academic and personal priorities.

Prepare now for the published 2027 undergraduate window

Nanjing University's 2027 self-funded undergraduate guide is published, but its application window is 2027-03-01 to 2027-05-15. This is not an invitation to submit in October 2026. Plan the required CSCA subjects using the 2027 programme catalogue and work backwards from the score-submission deadline of 2027-05-15. A language certificate does not replace that academic test.

Match the Chinese requirement to the major

The ordinary undergraduate requirement is HSK 5, at least 180 overall and 60 in each section; the Chinese Language major specifies HSK 4 with the same score thresholds. The guide also contains exceptions and additional major-specific evidence. Check those against your exact course and education history, and confirm the teaching campus separately before reserving housing.

FAQ

Does Noka’s Nanjing location imply a university partnership?

No. Noka is an independent consultancy. The university’s official admissions office decides your application.
