Considering Peking University: narrow down the exact study route

The short answer

Peking University’s international-student portal is the official starting point. Compare a full degree, visiting study and a language course as separate options, with separate requirements.

Begin with the result you want

Do you need a degree, credit-bearing study with your home institution or a period of language learning? Write the answer before looking at a campus photograph. The portal may describe several routes, but their durations, eligibility and outcomes differ. A non-degree experience should not be marketed as equivalent to a Peking University degree.

Check the faculty and the campus

Find the exact academic unit and course location rather than relying on the university name alone. For degree study, inspect modules, teaching language and progression requirements. For an exchange, confirm credit recognition with your home institution before the visit. For language study, check placement and weekly class arrangements.

Organise unanswered questions

Keep a short list of details not yet confirmed: the current intake, required qualification, language certificate, accommodation and visa-document timing. Ask the international office or relevant faculty with the programme name included. An old social-media application guide is useful only as a clue to questions, not as a current rule.

Put this guide into practice

Create a short record for your intended programme. Add the relevant notice or document beside each item; leave unpublished details marked “to confirm”.

  • Exact programme and intended intake
  • Compulsory modules that match your study goal
  • Fee amount, charging period and academic year

Compare with a second realistic option

A strong plan is more resilient when one university is not the only acceptable outcome. Put Peking University beside two other choices in the directory, then compare your actual programme fields. Decide what would make a different location or teaching format worthwhile. Keep application and travel commitments within the budget you can afford.

Choose the undergraduate route before collecting evidence

Peking University's portal separates entrance-examination admission, admission based on standardised test results, preparatory study and the Boya scheme. They are distinct routes, not interchangeable forms. For the 2026 examination route, the written subjects were Chinese, English and mathematics. Start with the route that fits your education, then check its current notice; a route without a written test still has its own selection requirements.

Treat the 2026 notice as a closed-intake reference

The examination application window closed on 2026-02-28. That notice listed an application fee of CNY 800 and left tuition for a later announcement. A 2027 window and tuition amount are not confirmed by those figures. Prepare a route-specific document list now, but wait for the applicable notice before making commitments based on last year's dates or prices.

Peking University: which source answers your question?

A university application fee is separate from tuition and from Noka's service fee. Do not assume that a preparatory place or a test exemption is a degree offer.

Requirements depend on the university, programme, intake and your circumstances.

FAQ

Does the Peking University portal confirm every programme is open now?

No. Follow the current notice for the specific programme and intake. A listed university or general portal is not a live offer of a place.
