Fudan University: choose the programme before the Shanghai lifestyle

The short answer

For a Fudan application, use the university’s current international admissions information and the exact programme notice. Plan the academic fit and the cost of living in Shanghai together.

Define the course precisely

Record the programme name, academic unit, degree level and teaching language. Check whether you are looking at a regular degree, exchange or non-degree route. English pages and a famous institution name are not evidence that every subject is offered to every international applicant.

Check how your background will be assessed

Compare your transcript with any listed subject prerequisites. For a research programme, explain how your previous work prepares you for the proposed topic. If a qualification title is unfamiliar to the admissions office, ask what supporting evidence it needs. Do not rewrite your academic record to make it appear to satisfy a requirement.

Plan housing before counting on city access

Ask which campus hosts the programme and whether international-student accommodation is available for your intake. Compare the dormitory process with a realistic private-housing backup. Include deposits and commuting in the arrival budget. An attractive district is not necessarily the most practical place for early classes.

Put this guide into practice

Create a short record for your intended programme. Add the relevant notice or document beside each item; leave unpublished details marked “to confirm”.

  • Compulsory modules that match your study goal
  • Language of compulsory classes and assessment
  • Funding deadline separate from general admission

Choosing Chinese Universities for Scholarship Applications: Beyond Prestige

Make a funding decision you can live with

Keep a self-funded budget alongside any scholarship application. Decide the maximum cost you can accept and the date by which funding needs to be confirmed. If the award is uncertain, retain a lower-cost or later-intake alternative. That choice is planning, not a judgment on the university’s quality.

A concrete language-course example, with the year attached

Fudan's autumn 2026 language brochure places ICES teaching at Handan Campus. It quotes tuition for reference rather than an unconditional final price. This is useful for understanding what to ask, but it is not a 2027 application notice. The autumn 2026 application window ended on 2026-06-12; wait for the next relevant announcement before treating an intake as available.

Compare the learning result and the full stay

For a language stay, define a target you can assess: handling daily conversations, reading academic material or preparing for a later degree application. Ask about placement and assessment, then build a housing plan for the actual teaching site. If a degree is your goal, keep its subject prerequisites, language threshold and application separate from the language-course plan.

The brochure labels tuition as a reference. These 2026 amounts are not a 2027 quote and exclude accommodation, living expenses and Noka's service fee.

Requirements depend on the university, programme, intake and your circumstances.

FAQ

Does admission mean a dormitory room is secured?

Check the housing notice separately. An academic offer does not by itself confirm a room or its price.
