March 2027 Chinese-Language Scholarship: Student Deadline vs Institutional Review

Check the separate student submission and institutional review deadlines for the published March 2027 language semester.

What you need to know

For CLEC March 2027, students submit by 31 October 2026; institutions review by 10 November. The five-month route has field-specific HSK/HSKK requirements, two-year language-report validity and its own registration/payment rules.

Two dates, with two different responsible parties

The 2026 CLEC rules expressly include a five-month semester beginning in March 2027. Students submit by 31 October 2026, Beijing time. Recommending and receiving institutions review by 10 November. The later date is not an additional ten days for an applicant.

The host can have an earlier internal deadline. A student should therefore obtain the recommending institution’s completion step and the university’s review timetable before treating the central cutoff as a personal target. A draft in the system is not the same as a completed supported application.

The semester’s fields determine the language evidence

For the listed Chinese education, literature, history and philosophy semester fields, the baseline is HSK 3 with at least 180 and an HSKK result. The traditional medicine/Tai Chi fields have different language wording. The passport page, valid language results and recommending-institution letter are part of the general file.

HSK/HSKK reports in the 2026 checklist have two-year validity. A historical score that once satisfied the level cannot be assumed current. This semester timetable should not be transferred to a four-week course or to a degree entering in autumn 2027.

The payment rules affect an arrival plan

For eligible semester students, the listed living support is CNY 2500 per month and insurance funding is CNY 400 for the semester. The scheme uses the fifteenth-day registration distinction for the first month’s living payment: full on/before that day, half after it.

Those are scheme rules rather than a guaranteed date of money appearing in the account. The student still completes the host’s registration and administrative steps. Prepare a short arrival reserve and comply with the admission notice’s arrival date instead of choosing a late arrival simply to match a personal flight preference.

The student deadline is earlier than institutional review

The later date is for recommending and host institutions, not an extra ten days for students. For the standard semester stream, the stated baseline includes HSK 3 with 180 points and an HSKK result; other subject streams differ.

Match the semester stream and language evidence

Confirm that your host offers the March route and whether it has an earlier internal deadline. The recommending institution is part of the process. Language-test validity and complete supporting files matter alongside the central cutoff.

FAQ

Can students wait until 10 November because institutional review closes then?

No. The published student deadline is 31 October 2026. The 10 November date concerns review by the recommending and receiving institutions.
