Four-Week Chinese-Language Scholarships: Funding Without a Living Stipend

The short route covers the listed core benefits, with medical-insurance funding of CNY 100 for the four-week programme.

What you need to know

CLEC’s four-week route has no living stipend. Its insurance support is CNY 100 rather than the longer-route amount, and the cited December 2026 round has closed. Meals, travel and personal spending need a separate short-course budget.

What is paid, and what is not

The four-week route in the 2026 rules has listed tuition, accommodation and comprehensive medical-insurance support, but no living allowance. Insurance funding is CNY 100 per person for four weeks, compared with CNY 400 for a semester and CNY 800 per year for annual/longer study.

The comparison is not CNY 2500 multiplied by one month. That monthly rate belongs to eligible longer routes. Meals, ordinary local travel and personal spending need a separate budget unless another clearly identified arrangement pays them.

A daily budget makes the short-course difference visible

Illustration only: assume food and local transport cost CNY 80 per day over 28 days. The calculation is CNY 2240, before international travel and any excluded charges. CNY 80 is a chosen budgeting assumption, not an official published cost of living.

If a group organiser quotes a fee, ask which cost it represents and whether it duplicates a named scholarship benefit. A funded course can coexist with legitimate uncovered travel or personal costs, but the label scholarship does not explain an unexplained package charge.

The cited December intake is already closed

The 2026 rules place four-week study in July or December. December student applications closed on 15 September, with institutional review by 25 September. The framework describes groups of ten to fifteen organized through recommending institutions with advance host arrangements and approval.

Those details belong to that notice. Different or more specific host instructions should be reconciled, not flattened into a claim that any individual can receive any four-week date. A future course needs its own available intake and confirmed arrangements; it is not automatically an extension of the March 2027 semester route.

Four-week support has no living stipend

The short route covers the listed core benefits, with medical-insurance funding of CNY 100 for the four-week programme. A CNY 2,500 monthly living allowance from longer streams cannot be added to its budget.

The cited December round has already closed

For December 2026, the student deadline was 15 September and has already passed. Group and host arrangements must be checked for the particular university; central and host instructions should not be flattened into one assumed group-size rule.

FAQ

Will a four-week scholarship pay the monthly living allowance used by longer CLEC streams?

No. The cited four-week route excludes a living stipend. Prepare a separate daily-expense budget using its own stated coverage and any additional costs charged by the organiser.
