Four published dates that should not be merged
For March 2027 CLEC semester study, the student cutoff in the 2026 rules is 31 October 2026, Beijing time; recommending and receiving institutions finish review by 10 November. Yenching’s 2027 international application closes on 30 November 2026 at 09:00 Beijing time. These are different programmes, not two rounds of one CSC application.
SIGS closes general graduate admission on 15 May 2027 at 17:00 Beijing time but advises earlier scholarship preparation in late 2026. Its Chinese notice says before December; its English notice recommends completion by December. This is early-application guidance, not a newly invented common scholarship deadline.
Use a backwards plan with named documents
For the published 31 October student cutoff, decide when the recommending institution must receive the file and whether the university has an earlier internal date. Work backwards from those dates for HSK/HSKK evidence and the recommendation. Waiting for the 10 November institutional review cutoff would miss the student deadline.
For a research-degree application, the sequence is different: proposal and academic recommendations may need coordination with the department. Beihang’s closed 2026 example required a supervisor-signed plan. That example explains why reference preparation can precede the final portal upload; it does not establish the 2027 host’s dates.

What to track after the deadline
Submitted, under review, nominated and funded are distinct outcomes. A complete personal calendar should therefore contain an expected review stage as well as the submission date. If the notice does not publish a result day, mark it as not announced rather than inventing a July date from another university.
Retain each receipt and watch the same email account for requests. A referee may have a separate action even after the applicant has uploaded the main file. Where the recipient permits corrections, record the final resubmission; do not assume a withdrawn draft remains submitted.

Scholarship and admission deadlines can differ
The scholarship authority may close its nomination round before the university finishes its broader admissions cycle. A university may also offer multiple batches or an internal scholarship deadline earlier than admission. Record the recipient, programme category, intake and time zone for every date. A general seasonal pattern is useful for preparation but is not permission to submit after a local deadline.
Prepare slow documents before the call opens
Start with eligibility and test planning, because transcripts, certified translations, referees and pre-admission can take time. For research degrees, read supervisor-contact instructions before sending messages. For undergraduate applicants, schedule CSCA early enough for result availability. Your personal preparation deadline should sit before the official deadline, leaving room to correct missing or rejected documents.

Can I use the university’s final admission deadline as my scholarship deadline?
Only if the scholarship instructions explicitly say so. Funding review, nomination and pre-admission can close earlier. For SIGS 2027, the published early-application advice is not interchangeable with the May 2027 general admission deadline.
