Tsinghua SIGS Scholarships 2027: Apply Before the General Deadline

Identify the award you seek and any nomination or pre-admission steps before using the admissions calendar.

What you need to know

SIGS’s general 2027 deadline is in May, while scholarship applicants are advised to prepare early in late 2026. The CNY 800 fee, programme documents and Shenzhen-based cost exposure should be addressed before treating admission as confirmed funding.

May admission and December scholarship preparation are different

SIGS’s 2027 general window ends on 15 May 2027 at 17:00 Beijing time. The Chinese notice recommends scholarship applicants submit before December 2026; the English version recommends completion by December. Both communicate early preparation, rather than allowing the general May endpoint to function as a safe funding target.

The Chinese notice also advises completion two to three weeks before a programme deadline. Tsinghua’s winter break runs from 21 January to 17 February 2027; the system stays available but review can be delayed. An open portal and active document review are therefore not the same condition.

The university and funding files ask related but separate questions

The 2027 list includes the personal statement, degree/authentication material, transcript, language evidence, two academic recommendations and passport, with nationality-status evidence where relevant. PhD applicants also provide the specified research material. Programme catalogues can add requirements.

The application fee is CNY 800. The university’s general guidance says it cannot be paid by the Chinese Government Scholarship and is non-refundable. An applicant waiting for a scholarship result still needs to complete the university’s prescribed payment and documents for the file to be processed.

Put this guide into practice

Create a short record for your intended programme. Add the relevant notice or document beside each item; leave unpublished details marked “to confirm”.

  • Recommended submission timing distinguished from a hard deadline
  • Application fee and any explicit exemption
  • Exact programme and intended intake

Programme cost and location should precede the funding comparison

SIGS is in Shenzhen. Its English 2027 page lists ordinary engineering master’s tuition at CNY 33000 per year and doctoral tuition at CNY 40000 per year, while special programmes can differ substantially. Those fees are useful for estimating exposure if a desired scholarship is not granted, not for assuming every SIGS degree costs the same.

Full CSC, school or municipal tuition support can have different coverage and compatibility rules. Identify the actual programme and funding notice before adding living support to a tuition reduction. A university admission result alone does not decide which of those benefits will be offered.

SIGS separates scholarship preparation from final admission

The 18 September 2026 notice separates funding preparation from the final admission window. May is not a safe scholarship deadline. Identify the award you seek and any nomination or pre-admission steps before using the admissions calendar.

Different Shenzhen awards cover different costs

Full CSC funding and SIGS or municipal tuition awards have different coverage and conditions. Annual review applies to continuing support. Shenzhen study costs and accommodation arrangements should be assessed for Shenzhen, rather than a Beijing-campus budget.

FAQ

Is 15 May 2027 the safe deadline for every SIGS scholarship?

No. It is the cited general admissions closing time. Scholarship applicants are advised to act early before December 2026 and must also follow the relevant funding and nomination instructions.
