The final credential is required at registration
For 2027 Tsinghua graduate entry, an overseas degree requires the prescribed authentication through CSCSE. An applicant who has not graduated by the application deadline can use the accepted expected-graduation evidence first, but must supply the diploma and authentication before registration. Already graduated applicants provide authentication at application.
This distinction prevents a provisional document being treated as the final qualification. PhD applicants normally submit both bachelor’s and master’s degree evidence; direct bachelor-to-PhD applicants follow a separate set of instructions. A scholarship nomination does not waive the registration credential check.
A missing GPA calls for a university-issued document
The general 2027 guidance requires an additional GPA certification issued by the university when the uploaded transcript cannot directly show total GPA. An applicant’s own spreadsheet conversion is not that document. Current students first supply current transcripts and then the complete record before registration.
The upload standard is equally specific: scan original or notarized documents in colour using a scanner. Phone or camera pictures and scans of copies are not acceptable in the stated instructions. Where translation is required, upload the original and certified translation together.
Put this guide into practice
Create a short record for your intended programme. Add the relevant notice or document beside each item; leave unpublished details marked “to confirm”.
- Degree verification required before registration
- Grading scale and official explanation of academic results
- Published waiver conditions and required approval
An admission language waiver can differ from the scholarship rule
A department can approve an admission-language exemption on the basis of prior study-language evidence. The same university guidance warns scholarship applicants to provide the language evidence required by the scholarship. Approval for admission therefore does not automatically remove a funding requirement.
The SIGS direct bachelor-to-PhD paragraph gives programme-specific English thresholds and distinguishes older and newer TOEFL test scales. It should not be applied to every SIGS master’s programme. The useful action is to identify the catalogue entry and funding evidence together, rather than copy one attractive threshold.
SIGS/Tsinghua 2027 document problems and the stated remedy
| Problem | Specified response |
|---|---|
| Degree not completed at the application deadline | Accepted expected-graduation evidence first; final diploma/authentication before registration |
| Transcript does not directly state total GPA | Additional GPA certification issued by the university |
| Original is not in Chinese or English | Required certified translation submitted with the original |
| Phone photograph of a credential | Colour scanner image of original/notarized material; phone/camera images not accepted |
| Department grants a language waiver | Separately satisfy the intended scholarship’s language-evidence requirement |
These are Tsinghua 2027 instructions. They should not be generalized into every Chinese university’s document policy.
Degree evidence must include the required verification
Applicants must follow the listed verification requirements for their qualification. Expected graduates need the permitted interim evidence and must provide final credentials on schedule. A diploma photograph alone may not complete the verification requirement.
GPA evidence and legible scans are separate tasks
If a transcript does not show GPA, provide the required supporting evidence rather than inventing a conversion. Submit clear colour scans; the notice advises against phone photographs. Check names and degree dates across translations and certificates.
FAQ
Can I calculate my own GPA when it is absent from my transcript?
Do not invent a conversion. The SIGS notice requests supporting GPA evidence when the transcript does not display it. Follow the institution’s document instructions and use information your awarding institution can substantiate.
